Truck cartoon

Above you can see my attempt to depict the gift Eryk received last Thursday. First thing Pawel asked when he saw it was why there are hot dogs on a truck. He either was very hungry or I seriously need to work on my drawing skills…

Some days are better than others and I tend to remember the worse ones. This is not good, not good at all. Therefore when I felt particularly well last week I wrote down why, so I can remember.

break

I am tired. But it is a “good” tired, the kind of feeling that comes at the end of a well-spent day. I like that.

It started nice and quiet, in the middle of the night. Partially asleep I was checking my messages while Eryk was eating. There were a few from my dearest CYTA friends (won’t explain now what that means, just believe me they’re the best πŸ™‚ ) and these messages were so funny and caring. It feels so sweet when someone is thinking of you, isn’t it? So there I was, onΒ the verge of my dreamland and real world, rocking in a chair, holding my nursling in arms. Sweet and joyful (and also exhausted). After eating was done I crawled into bed to dream some more. Then the morning came. I checked my emails with one eye open. And there they were πŸ™‚ – TWO from two missed friends. Hearing from them made me very happy. Haven’t replied yet though! πŸ™‚ Probably they’ll read this post before my email back reaches them. But I will write soon, I promise!

After morning full of good news I just went with my day. Cleaned a little, played with Eryk, worked on “to do” list. Spoke with my mom in law. She hasn’t seen Eryk yet, you know. But we send pictures every two weeks or so and it makes her happy. And I love when we discuss them later over the phone. So we did that today. Then I spoke with my parents and did little bit of skyping with my mom. AND in the meantime some “old” friends confirmed they’re coming for dinner. We haven’t seen each other for about a year and they haven’t met Eryk yet. How great was that news? πŸ™‚ The day was getting better and better.

So here I went to plan the dinner, and this is what I came up with: mushroom quiche, asparagus and ham quiche, easy peasy rommanie lettuce salad (sans feta), dinner rolls, and for dessert vanilla ice cream with berries. Sounds good?* With some cooking and some help of store bought products (I admit I didn’t make the ice cream and used store bought crust ;)) I had it ready in about 2.5 hours. Hmm, maybe even less. I managed to clean in between too. And Eryk was very considerate – he actually took a nap for almost entire time. And it NEVER happens. His late afternoon nap rarely lasts more than 30 minutes. Good kid.

We had a wonderful evening. Hope I didn’t talk to much about the baby and baby related stuff – surprisingly self control is not my virtue. Tomorrow they fly to Poland and hopefully we’ll see them soon again. Sooner than in one year I hope. When they left, Pawel cleaned up the dishes, I fed Eryk and put him to bed. Sneaked in one berry bar and felt tired. Happy and tired. It was such a wonderful day. It helped me realize that I have a pretty happy life πŸ™‚

*I think it definitely requires a repeat so I can take pictures and share the recipes with you. The rolls practically made themselves and I am not kidding! πŸ™‚
